In Back to the Future Part II (1989), Marty McFly borrows a pink, Mattel-branded "hoverboard" to outrun bullies in the futuristic year of 2015. He pulls off the handlebars to create an iconic flying skateboard. The movie magic was achieved using hidden wirework, cranes, and cleverly disguised plywood.
